About Us

The principle partners of Georgia Anesthesia LLC, Gil Kandrac and Steve Smith have been providing anesthesia services together for over 20 years.

The union began together in a hospital based anesthesia group and ultimately transitioned to the outpatient anesthesia setting.  We now provide a full range of anesthesia services for practices specializing in Orthopedics to include US guided PNBs, Podiatry, Urology, Oncology, ENT, GYN, GI, Ophthalmology, Cosmetics and Plastics, Reproductive Medicine, Dermatology, Dental and Pain Management.  We strive to provide the highest quality community-focused anesthesia services with an emphasis on safety, cost effectiveness, efficiency and flexibility.  We recognize the unique needs of patients, facilities and physicians for whom we provide anesthesia services.  Georgia Anesthesia LLC will assist our clients in maximization of staff, resources and productivity.

Gilbert A. Kandrac Jr. CRNA, MS

Gilbert A. Kandrac Jr. CRNA MS has practiced as a Nurse Anesthetist since 1992. He was awarded an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing and Bachelors of Science in Health Services from the University of Toledo. His Anesthesia education was in Minnesota where he earned a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from St Mary’s College and a Graduate from the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia. After relocating to the Atlanta area, He practiced Anesthesia with Steve Smith at Rockdale Hospital for 10 years. After leaving the hospital setting, Gil focused on outpatient and office surgery as an Independent Contractor. Through the next 10 years the business of anesthesia was investigated and He established Georgia Anesthesia LLC in 2011 with Steve Smith.

Gil is a member of the Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthetists (GANA) and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). Gil lives in Roswell Georgia with his wife of 30 years, 2 daughters aged 9 and 17 years old and a good but poorly trained dog named Milo. Gil is an avid outdoorsman, Martial Artist, Scuba Diver and enjoys walking on sand.

Steve Smith MA, CRNA, FAANA

The Chief Operating Officer of Georgia Anesthesia LLC, Steve is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA) practicing anesthesia since 1983. He has been practicing in Georgia since 1985. For 19 years Steve was Chief CRNA for a small community hospital in the greater Atlanta metro area. During that time, he served as a preceptor and clinical instructor for the Medical College of Georgia Nurse Anesthesia program. Steve continues to lecture annually at the state and national level on the “Business of Anesthesia” and “Office-based Dental Anesthesia Startup”. Since 2004, he has focused his energy and efforts upon building a respected outpatient anesthesia services business.

Steve served as the 2008 President of the Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthetists (GANA). In 2012, he was awarded the GANA Rosalie McDonald Award for excellence in nurse anesthesia. From 2008 until 2018 he served as the Federal Political Director for the GANA. In 2017, he became a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) CRNA-PAC 1983 Society. In 2019 he was awarded the AANA Daniel D. Vigness Federal Political Director Award. He is also an AANA Gertrude Fife and Triple Crown member. Most recently in 2023 he became a member of the Fellows of the AANA. He is currently serving on the AANA Dental Advisory Panel.

Chris Cline, CRNA, MN

Chris Cline, CRNA, MN has practiced Nurse Anesthesia since 2004. He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 1996. Chris then pursued his nursing career through The Medical College of Georgia receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Degree in 1999 and subsequently a Master’s of Nursing in Nurse Anesthesia in 2004.

Upon graduation, he worked at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA for 2 years providing anesthesia services in the Level 1 trauma center. Chris and his wife Lina, who is also a CRNA, moved to the North Atlanta in 2006. Chris began working at North Fulton Hospital for 9 years. Three of these years serving as the Chief Anesthetist.

Chris joined Georgia Anesthesia, LLC in 2015 and became the Director of Clinical Services. Since joining the practice he has worked to grow the services provided by Georgia Anesthesia, LLC. Chris and Lina are both members of Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthetists and American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology. They reside in Roswell, GA with their twin teenage sons. When not busy with school and sport activities they enjoy lake time with friends and family.
